More than one wife seems to evoke such hatred amongst the yahoo clan.?

Why is that? The adults are consenting, it is a lifestyle they want and are happy with, and haven't muslim men being doing this for years? I do believe it has to be what the women want to be part of, and it is a committed relationship, no custom or cultural stuff, so what is the big deal?
