Trouble understanding Withcraft or Magick..?

Do you/they believe these gods and godess' to be physical beings when evoked? Or are they just metaphors, in a sense? Or do they believe they are energy and by evoking them, you evoke their energy? I have A LOT of questions, so if anyone is willing to answer them, message me an email or something, i'd really enjoy the wisdom.
